- Welcome Autumn Haskins as UUCUC’s Office Assistant! February 2, 2023 - Autumn Haskins is joining UUCUC's staff as Office Assistant. Autumn will be training with our current Director of Administration Miguel Espinoza.
- Rev KB – Call for Reproductive Justice January 26, 2023 - Each year since 1973, abortion rights activists have gathered on This weekend- on this day- January 22 for Roe v. Wade Day to celebrate the Supreme Court decision that granted a constitutional right to abortion. But now, 50 years after the decision, Roe v. Wade Day will be different: today marks the first anniversary of Roe since the ruling was overturned.
- UUCUC at Books To Prisoners January 18, 2023 - Books to Prisoners is a local nonprofit organization that provides books, on request, to incarcerated people throughout the state of Illinois. The UUCUC Racial Justice Project is arranging a special session for UUs to learn about the program, fill book orders, and spend time together in this fulfilling, direct-action volunteer activity.
- Board of Trustees Receives Safety and Security Assessment Report January 18, 2023 - The Board of Trustees engaged Good Havens Consulting and its director, Dr. Trudy Good to conduct a safety and security audit to provide recommendations for how UUCUC might improve in this arena. During the January Study Session, Dr. Good, attended this meeting to share her findings as well as presented the board with foundational knowledge related to threat assessment.
- Updates From the Search Team, Including Survey Results! January 18, 2023 - The Settled Search Team has entered the "top secret" part of our process, the part where we review applicants' materials and interview the ones we think might be a good fit for our congregation. This process will culminate in "neutral pulpit" visits for some candidates, where the Search Team travels to another UU church to experience an entire service led by a prospective minister.
- Immigrant Justice Team January 12, 2023 - The Immigrant Justice Team is exploring the impact of human trafficking in our local area. If you know of anyone with a story related to this topic let us know.
- Racial Justice On The Move January 11, 2023 - The Racial Justice Team is working on setting goals for upcoming years and will be learning more about collaboration with community groups and churches. Please consider joining us for our next meeting (January 19, 5:30 pm – hybrid meeting in person at the church and on zoom) to learn from some guest speakers about their work in the community.
- UU Buddhist Fellowship Holds Convo in Racine, April 27-30 January 11, 2023 - The national UU Buddhist Fellowship holds regular Convos, and in April of 2023 the UUBF Convo will be held in the Midwest for the first time, with the distinguished Buddhist teacher and climate change activist David Loy, author of Ecodharma: Buddhist Perspectives on the Ecological Crisis. The Convocation will be April 27-30 at the beautiful DeKoven Center in Racine, Wisconsin.
