In-Person Fellowship Hour

The COVID-19 transmission level in Champaign County is LOW. The COVID-19 transmission level in Champaign County each week will determine the activity during in-person fellowship Hour. Please check our COVID-19 safety guidelines webpage for the current transmission level.

Under the direction of UUCUC Staff Leadership Team in full cooperation and support by the UUCUC Covid Advisory Team the UUCUC Covid Guidelines have been updated using guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District.

Starting Sunday, February 12, 2023 masks are welcomed but no longer required in the building, during worship services, or during REE activities. If the community risk level moves to high, activities involving eating or drinking will be temporarily suspended.

The color-coated lanyard system at UUCUC will continue indefinitely. We will use eNews and signs on the doors of the building to communicate the current community risk level.

Masks will continue to be required during choir practices.

Read the entire updated UUCUC COVID Safety Guidelines.

Social Action Offering of the Month

As the world celebrates Earth Day on April 22, we are delighted to announce that our Shared Offering recipient for this month is Green Team Academy (GTA). GTA is a small environmental nonprofit based in Denver, Colorado, with a mission of empowering everyday individuals to #BeTheChange.

GTA’s unique approach to environmental activism invites grassroots organizers and small teams to bring forth their ideas for positive change. Through their flagship annual programs, the International Climate Action Challenge and the Earth Week Summit, GTA provides a platform for participants to develop and implement their initiatives while recognizing those who take action.

The International Climate Action Challenge offers a 90-day program where teams receive a free digital Climate Action Challenge book and workbook, weekly coaching, and networking opportunities. Teams that complete impactful actions and document their progress have the chance to be featured in the annual Impact Summit and receive Eco-Champion awards. Since 2020, teams have planted over 100,000 trees and started over 100 community gardens, demonstrating the tangible impact of grassroots action on addressing climate change.

GTA’s commitment to amplifying voices and stories of historically underserved communities is evident in their partnerships with teams in vulnerable regions such as the Philippines, Uganda, and Nigeria. By fostering one-to-one relationships between communities in the US and those directly impacted by climate disasters, GTA ensures that solutions are rooted in local knowledge and experience.

In addition to their programs, GTA invites individuals who share their passion for environmental action to get involved through participation, donations, volunteering, or joining their leadership team. GTA is a fiscally sponsored project of Social Good Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization, ensuring accountability and transparency in their endeavors.

We encourage our congregation to learn more about Green Team Academy and consider supporting their mission to create positive change for our planet and its communities.
