  • Racial Justice On The Move January 11, 2023 - The Racial Justice Team is working on setting goals for upcoming years and will be learning more about collaboration with community groups and churches. Please consider joining us for our next meeting (January 19, 5:30 pm – hybrid meeting in person at the church and on zoom) to learn from some guest speakers about their work in the community.
  • UU Buddhist Fellowship Holds Convo in Racine, April 27-30 January 11, 2023 - The national UU Buddhist Fellowship holds regular Convos, and in April of 2023 the UUBF Convo will be held in the Midwest for the first time, with the distinguished Buddhist teacher and climate change activist David Loy, author of Ecodharma: Buddhist Perspectives on the Ecological Crisis. The Convocation will be April 27-30 at the beautiful DeKoven Center in Racine, Wisconsin.
  • Let’s Have a Coffee House! January 3, 2023 - The Music Committee is joining efforts with the Generosity Committee to host our first Hybrid Coffee House/Variety Show Generosity Kickoff Event on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at UUCUC.

  • Shared Offering for January 2023: The Chicago Abortion Fund December 28, 2022 - The Chicago Abortion Fund is our shared offering organization for January. The Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF) provides financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion care in Illinois and the Midwest.
  • UUCUC Partners with Cunningham Township to Pay Utility Bills December 21, 2022 - Due to the dire situation of many of our neighbors, starting Christmas Eve and through January 1st, UUCUC is partnering with Cunningham Township to collect donations to go toward the utility bills of people in the CU community struggling during this pandemic time.
  • Security Camera Policy at UUCUC December 21, 2022 - During 2022, staff saw a significant increase in people camping out, loitering, littering, and storing materials under the northside and southside overhangs of the church building. With these occurrences, several staff members and congregants have noted concerns about safety.
  • YRUU had a jumping good time at Elevate December 21, 2022 - Last Saturday, some of our YRUU Youth were part of an interfaith event at Elevate Trampoline Park in Champaign.  Sponsored by UUCUC, we also had youth attending from several other churches: New Covenant Fellowship, Copper Creek Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran.
  • Mediation Taskforce Recommendations December 13, 2022 - Following the 2022 Annual Congregational Meeting, the Board of Trustees took action to create and convene a Mediation Taskforce to address the congregation’s decision to remove mediation from our Constitution and Bylaws.
