The Board of Trustees has primary responsibility for conducting operational and business matters of the church. The UUCUC follows a congregational form of governance with the voting membership holding the ultimate authority, but the board, its officers, the minister, and the many recognized groups of the church are those who really carry out the work on a day-to-day basis.  The board works closely with the minister, who is the spiritual leader of the congregation, as well as, the Chief of Staff for personnel.

The board also works with the more than 30 recognized groups that are led by lay leaders to serve the congregation and the wider community.  It is the board’s responsibility to support and help clarify the duties of the recognized groups and staff, so all aspects of church programming are adequately implemented, and that work of individuals and groups can be coordinated effectively. Board members are elected for staggered, three-year terms and serve as liaisons to selected committees of the church.

The primary responsibilities of the board include:

  • setting church policy that is recorded in the operations manual;
  • conducting business within the framework of the church constitution and by-laws;
  • being guided by church vision/mission statement;
  • setting its annual goals to which the ministerial goals are coordinated, and;
  • meeting twice a month (1 study session, 1 business meeting).

To keep up to date on the latest board activities, please refer to the minutes of the business meetings.
