Pledge for Justice

From Mona Shannon

Many of us have found a home at UUCUC where we work to be our best selves; to promote justice and to do justice. We are called individually and collectively to act and to heal. We pledge our time, our talents, and our treasure to support this journey together. Thank you to all who have pledged!

On Sunday, Feb. 23 we will enter the final week of our Generosity campaign. In the words of Rev. Florence Caplow, “This is a crossroads, a moment to dream big and make a leap to a new way of sharing ministry, where we can shine even brighter for each other, for this community, and beyond.

Let’s Leap … TOGETHER!

Together we fulfill our mission to: Build Community. Seek Inspiration. Promote Justice. Find Peace. Please pledge today. This congregation is self-sustaining. Our pledges are the core of each year’s budget.

We are a generous congregation. Many pledgers give 2-10% of their adjusted income, as recommended by the Fair Share Giving Guide. Others work towards this goal. Thank you to everyone who supports the work of this congregation! Every pledge matters because every person matters.

For 2019-2020, we had just under 200 pledging units, with an average pledge of $2,250. We encourage everyone to feel the joy of giving. No gift is too small or too big. Pledges range from $25 to over $10,000 per year. None of us can do it alone; but each of us can do our part. A healthy congregation has pledges at all levels. The 2019-2020 pledges fall roughly in these groups:

  • 25% – $25 – $499;
  • 25% – between $500 – $999;
  • 25% – between $1,000 – $3,000
  • 25% – over $3,000 per year

Please pledge this week online at pledge, by mail, or at the Generosity table immediately following Sunday’s service. This year it is especially important for us to receive all pledges promptly so our Budget Team can help prepare our budget. Questions? Contact Mona Shannon at generosity@uucuc.org.
