  • Thank You from CROP Walk! October 28, 2020 - We did not know what to expect this year, with the pandemic, and a virtual CROP Walk. The response we have received from this church and its friends is way beyond our wildest hopes! The UU Walkers are an awesome team : Karen Folk, Jennifer Greene, Michele Grove, Jody Hanger, Sandy Hannum, AJ Herzog, Michaela Kruse, Pat McClard, Jean Peters, and Karen Retzer. This team brought in $5,390 in online donations, plus some checks which are not yet counted. Phenomenal! In a normal year, we raise just over $3,000. I know that our church is extraordinarily generous, and really steps up in times of crisis. Here we have seen it again, and my heart is bursting with gratitude. Thank you all for your compassion and caring. You have done a great deal to help people suffering from hunger and poverty because of COVID, and devastated by disastrous wildfires and hurricanes in other parts of the country. Heartfelt thanks to this most generous congregation!

Three times a year, the full council meets to look at the full program and dream about our learning future. Our next meeting is will be held online on Saturday, November 21, 2020. There will be a morning session and an afternoon session (watch for more clarity on the time and subject matter of each session). Anyone interested in how lifelong learning is lived out in our congregation is welcome to attend. Religious education council meetings are open to everyone.
  • Intersex Awareness Day is October 26 October 21, 2020 - From Wikipedia: “Intersex Awareness Day is an international day of grass-roots action to end shame, secrecy and unwanted genital cosmetic surgeries on intersex children. The day also provides an opportunity for reflection and political action… Intersex people are individuals born with any of several variations in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, sex hormones, or genitals that do not fit the typical definitions for male or female bodies.” As taught in the UUA Transforming Hearts Collective course, intersex people are an example of how the biological gender binary is not absolutely true.
