The news of Rev. Florence’s health challenges and time of leave has left many of us with a heavy heart and wondering “How can I help?”. We thought it would be helpful to provide some ideas on things we can do to help Florence feel supported in ways that also honor her privacy and give her the rest she needs during her time away from church duties. The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce UUCUC will soon have a new Consulting Minister joining our beloved community! Rev. Karen Bush, retired United Church of Christ minister and longtime resident of Urbana-Champaign, has accepted the board’s invitation to serve our church while Rev. Florence is on extended medical leave.
It was announced this week that UUCUC’s Immigration Justice Task Force will be recognized with the Community Impact Award at the 8th Annual Immigrant Welcome Awards on September 18th! The time of the event will be from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm, with the location to be determined. We will share information once the location for the event has been finalized.
UUCUC members and friends turned out for the Water Celebration at Crystal Lake Park in Urbana on August 29th, which was led by Rev. Sally Fritsche. It was wonderful to come together in-person again as a congregation, and we hope to do it again soon!
