Safety GUURU Team

The Safety GUURU Team members form the pool of candidates to serve as Emergency Leaders, who attend to physical safety responses for church functions, mostly just the weekly church service for now. We like to have a team large enough to rotate responsibility for being Emergency Leaders for different events without the same people being on duty all the time. To get involved, contact the Safety Coordinators.

Contact Information

If you have questions or would like to know more information about the Safety Committee, please contact Scott Godlew (217-281-2424) or Pat Feely (217-359-5047).

Scott and Pat are the co-Coordinators. They head up the Safety GUURU Team, from which Emergency Leaders are delegated each week to provide leadership in the event of an emergency. They also coordinate with church staff, committees, and directors to ensure that necessary guidelines, policies, and procedures are in place and followed to optimally lead people to safety or obtain aid during church events, mostly Sunday services in the beginning.

The Safety Coordinator role is more thoroughly described in these documents:

Emergency Leaders

Members of the Safety GUURU Team signup to be Emergency Leaders for any given event (e.g. church service) to provide leadership when an emergency arises. They are trained to be familiar with how to respond when various types of emergencies arise, as outlined in the topics, below. Please contact the Safety Coordinators to get involved. The training will be provided, and the only prerequisite is to be able to get around the church as duties require.
