Critical Race Theory (CRT) has become a hot button topic in the past year. How much do you know about this theoretical approach? The Racial Justice Project has decided to explore CRT over the next 4-5 weeks. We will share e-news commentary, YouTube videos, TED talks, and links to other written materials; we hope to host a discussion hour. We will also support Rev. Sally in offering a Sunday service on CRT on October 24. Today, we are proposing some questions that we hope we can explore together.
- What are the origins of Critical Race Theory?
- How does CRT help us understand racial justice issues in education, the criminal justice system, and society in general?
- In what ways can current and past racism be addressed in public schools?
- What are the major criticisms and controversies that have surrounded CRT in recent years?
- How can we talk about CRT with our family, friends, and school board members?
If you have a question or concern related to CRT, please contact the Racial Justice Project at rjp@uucuc.org so that we can try to address them.
