The Social Action Committee is seeking a few youngish volunteers to work on CU-Better Together. This is a community-wide project designed to distribute food to families in our community who are suffering hardship because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Volunteers are needed on Wednesday mornings from 10 to 12. They cannot be older than 60 years of age. The work involves sorting and packing food at the Vineyard Church.
The Rev. Dr. Sheryl Palmer, of the Interfaith Alliance, has described her experience volunteering in these words: “From the moment I signed up to the moment I completed the shift, I felt safe and cared for. They have put together a wonderful instructional video that you receive before you arrive. Once you do arrive, they have in place all the safeguards one needs to get the job done while not worrying about spreading this crazy virus. That of course includes disinfectant, masks, gloves, and adequate distancing. Safety concerns are no reason NOT to consider engaging in this amazing collaborative effort in our community.”
If you are willing to work on some Wednesdays, please let us know. If you want to take on the task of organizing a group of 3 or 4 people for this effort we would be delighted!
