From Randy Locke, Chair, UUCUC Board of Trustees
In order to continue to be proactive to minimize impacts of
the COVID-19 pandemic, the UUCUC Board of Trustees has rescheduled the congregation’s
annual meeting. While the meeting has
historically been held early in May, changes to the bylaws last year specify
that the annual meeting time is “to be determined by the Board of Trustees”
(Article II, Section 1).
At the Board business meeting this Tuesday, the Board passed the following
motion: “Due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Board is rescheduling the
annual meeting and is actively evaluating the practicality of holding it on or
after June 7 in a way that ensures congregational safety and participation.”
There will certainly be additional work and adjustments because of the rescheduling. Please feel free to get in touch with me (chair@uucuc.org) or another Board member to let us know if you have comments or questions. We don’t know yet exactly how or when the annual meeting will be implemented, but it will very likely involve remote participation capability. The Board will provide additional information in the coming weeks as we continue to adapt our plans. The board has also committed to meeting more frequently to address business in a timely manner. To that end we will be having an extra business meeting on March 31, and two business meetings in April.
Now is a time of very significant transition in many of our lives, and that is true too of the UUCUC staff and board. All are working diligently to support essential activities, take care of each other, and take care of ourselves. As so many things that were until recently normal everyday activities are reimagined, redesigned, and yes, sometimes rescheduled, I have appreciated seeing so many examples of how we can be kind to each other and more gentle with ourselves.
With wishes of kindness and wellness to you all!
