Based on guidelines established by the Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department and Illinois Department of Public Health, in addition to feedback we’ve received from congregants, starting this week we’ve made some updates to our COVID safety guidelines.
These changes include:
- Beginning with the April 3 Sunday service, we will no longer require a reservation to attend services within the Sanctuary, and the seating capacity of 60 attendees in the Sanctuary will be lifted. With this noted, masks will still be required to attend services within the Sanctuary. There will continue to be additional seating available in Fellowship Hall for those congregants who would appreciate the added sense of social distancing. We will have a projector screen in place to provide a full visual and sound experience of our live streamed service, so together you can enjoy worship with other UUCUC members who also make this choice.
- Masks are not required, but encouraged to be worn, in other areas of the building. With that noted, if even one person in a small group asks for all to wear masks, we encourage the group to honor that request and take good care of each other both physically and emotionally in this way.
- Masks are required for anyone working with children under 5 years of age.
- Currently, food and drinks are permitted in the building except the Sanctuary. We kindly ask that if a meeting or event will be offering food or drinks for the attendees to please be considerate of others sensitivity to removing masks and eating/drinking within a group setting, and for the facilitators to publicly share with attendees prior to the meeting or event that food or drinks will be served.
- We will continue to provide a “traffic light” system of non verbal communication with colored lanyards so that every person may clearly communicate their comfort and needs easily to all around them. These lanyards are available within the main foyer of the building.
With these changes, we hope to see more of those within our beloved community again during Sunday services and at upcoming events, like the UU Auction on April 30th! If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please feel free to reach out to Brian Franklin at admin@uucuc.org.
