The Immigrant Justice Team wants to thank you for your generosity in helping us meet – and surpass – our goal of 15 backpacks! We are thrilled to have 16 backpacks donated that will be filled with gift cards and other essentials to give to unaccompanied minors when they enroll in school this fall.

You can learn more about these young people by coming downstairs during this Sunday’s Blessings of the Backpacks Service (August 11th). Come with your friends and family to help fill the packs with the toiletries and essentials we will have ready for you downstairs. Learn why these young people come to Champaign-Urbana, the journey they take, and what it is like for them when they arrive. Write a note of welcome to include in the backpacks or just watch the excitement and love of preparing a gift to a young person who will become a new member of our community. Thank you for making this project possible! We hope to see you August 11.
