From Jan Kalmar
Through the Social Action Committee our congregation has been branching out to support many important projects in our community. This year, again, acutely aware of the need for good news and information sources are not subject to corporate control, we are underwriting Democracy Now!, a daily, global, independent news hour.
Democracy Now!’s reporting includes breaking daily news headlines and in-depth interviews with people on the front lines of the world’s most pressing issues.
On Democracy Now!, you’ll hear a diversity of voices speaking for themselves, providing a unique and sometimes provocative perspective on global events. Since their founding in 1996, Democracy Now! has held steadfast to a policy of not accepting government funding, corporate sponsorship, underwriting or advertising revenue. Bold and important choice, in these times.
We are happy to partner and support both WEFT and Democracy Now!
