Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:
- Online Donations
- 50/50 Shared Offering available via our online donations page (your contribution is equally split between UUCUC and the recipient of our monthly social action organization)
- 50/50 Shared Offering available via Text (your contribution is equally split between UUCUC and the recipient of our monthly social action organization)
- If you prefer mailing a check, please mail the check to the UUCUC office at 309 West Green Street, Urbana, Illinois 61801.
The Randolph Street Community Garden is a volunteer-run project committed to providing an opportunity for the residents of the North-end of Champaign to grow their own fresh organic produce. As they say: “We believe that community gardening makes our neighborhood more cohesive and improves the quality of our lives. In addition to the intrinsic experience of harvesting the fruits of one’s labor, community gardening is an inexpensive source of fresh fruits and vegetables.”
The garden is just north of Stratton School in Champaign and is organized and maintained by Rev. Dawn Blackman (aka Mother Dawn) of the Church of the Brethren. Engaging with children and youth is an integral part of the garden project. The UU church is supporting the Randolph Street Community Garden through our March shared offering and through volunteer garden workers.
Your next opportunity to join one of our UU volunteer work crews comes on two dates: Saturday, March 25, and on Saturday, April 1. The work times are from noon-3pm.
