From Kate Barton, Director of Facilities
Now that Spring is in full “bloom”, and we’re spending more time at home, many of us are taking advantage of the opportunity to spruce up our yards. This past week I had the opportunity to visit with Laura Wetzel who has an amazing collection of azaleas.
I had no idea that there were so many different types and it looks like she has most of them in her yard. Look at the photos below and see if you can identify these varieties: Hose on Hose, Boudoir, Northern Lights (golden), and Hot Shot. Laura’s display is spectacular and has lots of people taking photos as they drive by her front yard. What they are missing is the view from her back window which is a more private area that has a view of hostas, bleeding hearts, herbs and other perennials. It’s a private oasis that showcases her love of nature.
In the spirit of sharing and spreading hope in these troubled times, we would love to see photos of your yard. Please share them with Brian Franklin at admin@uucuc.org or contact me, Kate Barton, at facilities@uucuc.org and I am happy to come take some photos to share (at a safe distance of course).
