If you have not yet had the opportunity to see last Sunday’s service (Jan. 8), I urge you to do so. In addition to learning about Kwanzaa, Rev KB and Joe Omo-osagie led us through the history of slavery and the many horrendous laws and practices (Jim Crow era and more) that were designed to keep African Americans and other people of color from their rightful status as American citizens. 16 generations of slavery and unfair laws were represented as UUCUC members and friends took their place in front of the congregation. It was powerful!!
The Racial Justice Team is working on setting goals for upcoming years and will be learning more about collaboration with community groups and churches. Please consider joining us for our next meeting (January 19, 5:30 pm – hybrid meeting in person at the church and on zoom) to learn from some guest speakers about their work in the community.
