Post Cards to Voters

Postcards to Voters – Sunday, August 25

Help us write nonpartisan postcards voters in North Carolina and Georgia and encourage them to vote!

Postcards will be available during Fellowship Hour after the service this Sunday, August 25. Take some home to write or host a postcard-writing party with your friends.

<b>UU The Vote</b> is partnering with the <b>Center For Common Ground</b>, a people of color-led organization, and the <b>Reclaim Our Vote Campaign</b> to send postcards to mostly rural, often older voters of color in voter-suppression states. Some of them have no Internet access. The postcards encourage them to vote and provide important voting information.

We will provide you with the postcards, voter names and addresses, and instructions. Your donations of postage ($0.56 per card) are appreciated, but we can cover some of the postage cost.

How to write the postcards:

• Read the provided Guidelines before you start.

• Legibly hand print the voter’s name and address on the postcard. Allow one inch below the address for the Post Office to affix the postal bar code. Cross out the name and address on the provided address list as you go.

• Apply the provided label with pre-printed voting information on the message side of each card.

• Print the message, word for word, exactly according to the script provided – around the information label that you applied. Using different colored pens or pencils on each card is encouraged.

• Keep voter names and addresses confidential and shred the list when you are done with it.

• Do not mail the cards before September 15, but mail them before the end of September. They are timed for early voting in the specific states. If you like, return the cards to Mike Sabacinski or Cate Calac in the church office before mid-September, and we will mail them.

If you have questions or want to arrange to get postcards before or after this Sunday, email Mike Sabacinski at reprojustice@uucuc.org.

Thank you for protecting and promoting our democracy and equality values!
