At Sunday’s annual meeting, we voted (80-1) to adopt the 8th Principle. Isn’t that great? We started the day looking to become the 67th UU group to endorse the 8th Principle, but discovered that we were in a crowd: 14 other UU churches besides us also voted “yes” on Sunday, bringing the total to 81 congregations or UU organizations that have adopted this principle!
“We, the members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana Champaign, covenant to affirm and promote journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”
Thank you to Rev. Florence and Rev. Sally for their solid support of RJP as we promoted this principle. Thank you also to the Immigration Justice Task Force, Care Core, the Membership Committee, and the BOT for their support of our efforts. Well done, UUCUC!
