During the month of November our Shared Offering recipient is the MAIA Impact School. Guatemala is a country with one of the worst gender equity gaps in the Americas. No where is this more apparent than with young indigenous girls, who are essentially an after thought in society. MAIA’s Impact School, located in Solola, Guatemala, is one of a kind in Central America.
Through a program of rigorous academics, mentorship, socio-emotional support and family engagement, MAIA focuses on maximizing the potential of indigenous girls, nourishing and connecting their talents with 21st century opportunities. Supporting the MAIA Impact School helps address the systemic causes of mass immigration and unleashes the untapped leadership potential of young Guatemalan women. Empowered women, with the knowledge and resources to live choice-filled lives, can lead their families and communities out of poverty
