Nominate organizations for our 2023 shared offering program!

We celebrate our church’s generosity in supporting organizations doing the work of social justice.  We collectively sent $25,715 to 12 organizations in 2021 and have contributed over $16,200 in the first 8 months of 2022.

Can you help us make this program a success?  We need you to nominate organizations in alignment with UU values. They can be local, state, national, or international. These organizations should be ones you know and support, but not ones that you personally run or that employ you. Start thinking now! The nomination form will be active by next week. The deadline for nominations is November 11.

Once we get a pool of nominated groups, you can help us choose the 11 we will support in 2023.  On Sunday, November 13 at 1 p.m. we will have our selection meeting on Zoom, with brief presentations by the nominators.  All interested members and friends are urged to attend and vote!

Each chosen organization will be featured for one month during 2023 and receive half of the money contributed in undesignated collections during the Sunday services for that month. The 12th organization is always our partner church program, supporting UU Churches in Romania and India.

To spread our support widely, we do not support the same organizations two years in a row.  Thus, the groups we funded in 2022 will not be eligible in 2023. The groups we supported in 2022 are:

  • The Refugee Center
  • Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation
  • Women in Need Recovery (WIN Recovery)
  • RACES
  • The Lakota People’s Law Project
  • Concerned Citizens of Carbondale
  • Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law
  • Education Justice Project
  • Uniting Pride of Champaign County
  • CU Trauma & Resilience Initiative
  • School of the Americas Watch

Think about organizations that are doing good work that we should support!
