A public meeting for MCORE Project 5 will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm to provide information and accept input from residents and community stakeholders. Exhibits, plans and aerial photography of the project area will be presented and project representatives will be available to discuss the construction plans for the project and to answer any questions.
City staff ask that any questions, concerns, or other input be provided in advance of this meeting so that project representatives may efficiently address any common items. Please send this input via email to Projects@urbanaillinois.us by 5:00pm Monday, May 11, 2020.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. Instructions for joining this meeting are attached. Presentations will be made at 4:00pm and 5:00pm, each followed by a question and answer session.
The Multimodal Corridor Enhancement Project (MCORE) Project will improve access for all modes of transportation on the Green Street corridor and provide direct connections from downtown Urbana through the University of Illinois campus to Champaign. The project is funded by a combination of local funds and state Motor Fuel Tax funds.
MCORE Project 5 includes the complete reconstruction of Green Street from Busey Avenue to Race Street in Urbana, the replacement of all sidewalks and sidewalk ramps to improve accessibility for pedestrians, and enhanced transit features. This project also includes improvements to the City storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure and water main replacement within the project limits. Construction on Stage 1 of this project is currently underway.
