Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombian pianist Juan Camacho has given numerous solo and collaborative recitals in Colombia and the US. Juan is currently pursuing his doctorate at the University of Illinois in Piano Performance and Literature under the tutelage of Dr. Timothy Ehlen. Previously he earned his Master’s Degree at Missouri State University where he studied with Dr. Hye-Jung Hong and his Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance at the Conservatory of the National University in Colombia with Mr. Juan Pablo Luna.
Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, among others have strongly influenced his musical preferences, but he also loves and has performed contemporary, popular, film, and folk music. Besides sharing music, Juan enjoys reading, watching movies and painting. He was captivated by the ideals of a UUCUC, a community with the mission of unifying in this divided world, and is looking forward to being part of it, where he can combine his search for truth and his love for music.
