Dear UUCUC,
I am writing today with a deep fondness and appreciation, and equal sadness, to share that I will be resigning from UUCUC. The search for my replacement will begin soon, and my official last day is yet to be determined, but I will no longer be serving in this position by August 31.
I want to thank you all for your support, commitment, and kindness as we have navigated one of the strangest years together. We found our way through unanticipated COVID variants, outdoor programming, and eventually bringing children and youth fully back into the building. I know I could not have done this without each and every one of you. Please rest assured that the RE&E program will flourish with an amazing group of volunteers, teachers, and advisors who collectively share so much wisdom, passion, experience, and energy.
To the beloved children and youth I have met, thank you so much for the gift of getting to know you this year. It has been an honor and a privilege to meet you, make jokes with you, enjoy crafts and games with you, and to journey alongside you. To those I had yet to meet, know that I cherish your presence, if only through YouTube or the briefest hellos. I know your futures are bright.
During the final weeks of my time here, I will be working hard behind the scenes alongside the RE&E teams, your ministers, and the Board to ensure our programs are ready to go for the fall including: the Our Whole Lives sexuality education program for both elementary and secondary youth; the Spirit Play program for our preschoolers and early elementary youth; Soul Matters for our upper elementary and middle school youth; and the Young Radical Unitarian Universalists (YRUU) high school youth group. In fact, we have four people traveling to a training in Bloomington, IL to become Our Whole Lives facilitators later this month, and a cohort of volunteers completing Spirit Play training during this summer as well! I will also be working closely with Rev. KB, Rev. Sally, and the Board to outline the job responsibilities of the RE&E professional to help craft a sustainable and appealing position for someone new.
As I step away from this position, I will be taking time away from UUCUC for a period of time as recommended by the UUA so that the new RE&E professional can find their footing and take full ownership of their new role. I want to assure you that during this time, I will be thinking fondly of you as I also step into a new stage of my own life, pursuing my career path as a social worker.
In the coming weeks, I hope to continue to share in the joy and warmth of this vibrant community of learners, explorers, movers, and shakers. Sincerely, I thank you all.
Rose St. Clair
