Voting has always been a cornerstone of a healthy democracy, but most eligible Americans don’t even vote. How important is voting, actually? How can we use it to advance an agenda, and where does voting fall short? And, most importantly as we approach 2020, how do we increase voter participation.

About the Speaker: Mansi Kathuria is a community organizer with Asian Americans Advancing Justice Chicago. At Advancing Justice, Mansi works with community members the Pan Asian Voter Empowerment Coalition to build Immigrant and Asian American power. She works with leaders to advance pro-immigration and racial equity issue based campaigns through city and state level policy and runs a civic engagement program to increase Asian American voter turnout across the state. Before coming to Advancing Justice, Mansi worked on several progressive political campaigns and spent two years organizing nurses at a labor union. Outside of work, she can be found writing, cooking, dancing, napping, tweeting (@mansi_kat), or cuddling with her cat, Chalupa.

Co-sponsored by UUCUC’s Social Action Committee.
