Rev. Caplow and others will be leading a weekly outdoor silent meditation from 2-3 pm on Saturdays. Bring your own lawn chair or cushion, park in the southernmost lot of the Arboretum (south of Japan House, free on the weekend) and look for a circle of people under the trees to the south. Please wear a mask. We will be at least 6 feet apart, and if more than 10 people join, we will form another circle.
We will ring a bell at 2 to begin meditation, sit for 20 minutes, ring another bell at 2:20 for ten minutes of walking meditation, and then begin sitting again at 2:30 for a final 25 minutes. Feel free to join at 2 or 2:30. Rain or shine! This is a way to connect with our hearts, the natural world, and each other in a safe and supported way. For more information, contact Rev. Caplow at minister@uucuc.org.
As the weather gets colder, please dress very warmly, and feel free to bring a thermos, hot water bottle…whatever you need to stay warm. It is also fine to come for only part of the meditation (the first period of sitting is from 2 to 2:20), or to do walking meditation during the whole time, in order to stay warm.
