The patriarchal society before the common era (BCE) in which Jesus was born traced family lineage through the male side of the family. And yet, the first Gospel According to Matthew includes five women in it’s introductory lineage. What does this say about Jesus and the author of Matthew’s Gospel? More importantly, what does it say about the extraordinary women who are included? This class will examine these women and the stories they bring to the early days of Christianity. Participants should be prepared for amazing stories of the Hebrew and New Testament Scriptures.
