On January 19, our “Open Hearts: A COVID Memorial” was dedicated at a brief ceremony on the Green Street side of the church. There is one heart for every person who has died of COVID in Champaign County.
The COVID memorial for friends and members of UUCUC who have lost a loved one during the pandemic will be on the south side of the building, near the parking lot doors. It will be dedicated at 1pm on Sunday, January 31. UUCUC members and friends who have lost someone to COVID, anywhere in the world, are invited to come any time after 12:30 to personalize a heart, and you are welcome to stay for the dedication. Please wear a mask and social distance. If you cannot come to the church that day, please email covid-memorial-uucuc@uucuc.org, and a heart will be personalized in honor of your loved one.
Julie Laut (jlaut@hushmail.com; 513-544-2682) will act as a main contact, in collaboration with Rev. Caplow, for communication, installation, and maintenance of this project.
