The CROP Hunger Walk, like so many other social action efforts, began as a youth movement. It was started by teens in Bismarck, ND in 1969. CROP projects were already being done behind the scenes, but the youths took it to the streets and raised awareness and funds. They walked in solidarity with people on the other side of the world who walk an average of six miles every day to find clean water.
CROP Walk boomed and became a huge interfaith effort all across the country. This is the 50th year for CROP Walk! These walks not only help fight hunger and poverty – they aid in humanitarian disasters of all kinds. Right now CROP funds are assisting refugees all over the world, including at the southern US border.
Please come to a meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 8 in classroom #1 to find out more information about the C-U CROP Walk 2019!
