A note from Michele Grove, Interim Director of Religious Education:
Dear UUCUC friends, this is important work. Sixteen people joined Paula Cole Jones in this workshop on October 17th and explored a great deal that lives into UUCUC’s vision. We invite you to be a part of the second offering. The workshop on October 31st is the same workshop. You are welcome to attend again if you were a part of the October 17th experience. Check out this interview with Paula Cole Jones:
And now, onto the workshop description…
“If there ever were a time that we need to spin out a new fabric of belonging and a wider sense of “we” for the human community, it is certainly now….The world is in need of your theology.” – Dianna Eck, professor of Comparative Religious Studies and Pluralism Project Director, Harvard University
Ms. Eck’s powerful statement, delivered to Unitarian Universalists, is echoed in the Mission and Vision Statements of your church. “We come together to provide a caring community, to encourage and to support one another…and to promote a more just and peaceful world….Whether you are passionate about LGBTQIA issues, addressing immigration justice, or promoting sustainability, the community provides opportunities for better understanding…and collective action.”

How often do we think of ourselves as a community within a community? Unitarian Universalist churches are both sanctuaries and beacons of hope in communities around the country. As society changes, we change. We co-create our present and future. What has that creation looked like over time at UUCUC? What is our role in creating healthy inclusive churches that live up to the promises of Unitarian Universalism?
We invite you into a Youth and Adult Spiritual Development Workshop with Paula Cole Jones to explore some of these questions. The 4-hour class will be held twice – Saturday, October 17th OR Saturday, October 31st from 10 AM to 2:30 PM. (There is a 60-minute break between the morning and afternoon sessions). The workshop is the same each day. You may choose one to attend OR if you wish to experience the community building with different audiences, you may attend both.
