From Sandy Hannum
The CROP Hunger Walk on October 4 is an interfaith community-wide effort to fight hunger and poverty, both locally and globally. This year the walk will be virtual, but the need is very real!
CROP Walk will be raising money to help people whose lives have been devastated by COVID-19. Of the funds raised, 25% will stay local, and will go to the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, the Eastern Illinois Food Bank, the Sola Gratia Farm, and the Wesley Food Pantry. The other 75% will go to projects in other parts of the world with the greatest needs.
We have a team of UU Walkers working to raise funds for this great cause. Members of our team are registered on the CU CROP Hunger Walk website. All donations can be made on behalf of a particular walker, or the team, by going directly to the C-U CROP Hunger Walk website. In this way we can bypass the need for envelopes, and handling checks or money. If for any reason somebody prefers to write a check, they can write a check to CROP, and mail it to Sandy Hannum. It will be turned in at the end of the Walk, and credited to the UU Walkers team.
