We thought it would be helpful to provide some ideas on things we can do to help Florence feel supported in ways that also honor her privacy and give her the rest she needs during her time away from church duties.   • Consulting Minister, Karen Bush, Joining UUCUC September 1, 2021 - The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce UUCUC will soon have a new Consulting Minister joining our beloved community! Rev. Karen Bush, retired United Church of Christ minister and longtime resident of Urbana-Champaign, has accepted the board’s invitation to serve our church while Rev. Florence is on extended medical leave.
  • UUCUC’s Immigration Justice Task Force to be Recognized at Immigrant Welcome Awards Ceremony – Updated with Ceremony Link September 1, 2021 - It was announced this week that UUCUC's Immigration Justice Task Force will be recognized with the Community Impact Award at the 8th Annual Immigrant Welcome Awards on September 18th! The time of the event will be from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm, with the location to be determined. We will share information once the location for the event has been finalized.
  • Photos From This Year’s UUCUC Water Celebration September 1, 2021 - UUCUC members and friends turned out for the Water Celebration at Crystal Lake Park in Urbana on August 29th, which was led by Rev. Sally Fritsche. It was wonderful to come together in-person again as a congregation, and we hope to do it again soon!
  • Hospitality Team Updates September 1, 2021 - We are grateful for the continued support of our six Hospitality Teams and twelve Team Leaders who provided opportunities for connection and engagement with our UUCUC community this past year while we have been remote.
  • UUCUC BoT Study Session on September 14th August 25, 2021 - Please be advised the Board of Trustees intends to use the top half of its regularly scheduled monthly Study Session to conduct church business. All study sessions occur on the second Tuesday of the month and business meetings are held monthly on the fourth Tuesday.
  • UUCUC Members Support True Climate Bill in Illinois August 25, 2021 - Members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana-Champaign gathered on Sunday, August 22 to urge Senator Scott Bennett to help pass a true climate bill in Illinois. We need him to support a bill that ends our reliance on fossil fuels; provides a just transition to a clean, renewable energy future; and closes the Prairie State coal plant in southwestern Illinois. Prairie State is the largest emitter of carbon pollution in Illinois, and the 7th largest in the country! It's time to do what's right for our planet.
