Expanding on The 8th Principle

A strength of Unitarian Universalism is that our Principles are dynamic rather than fixed. The 8th Principle is intimately connected to the existing seven principles, but it also differs from them in several important ways. First, while the 7 Principles may imply the 8th Principle, they do not explicitly hold us accountable for addressing racial oppression in ourselves and our society.

IJTF Writes Community Sign-On Letter Urging the Biden Administration To Stop Expelling Migrants at the Border

Like many at UUCUC, the Immigration Justice Task Force (IJTF) has been watching the challenges at the U.S. / Mexico Border. We know that spring surges like the one currently happening are not new. Last year, the Trump administration used the spring surge and the pandemic as an excuse to apply Title 42, an outdated health code, to effectively close the border.

Yarn Bombing Event a Success!

Be sure to pass by our Green Street fence this month to see the colorful results of last Saturday’s “yarnbombing.” Around forty UUCUC members and friends of all ages gathered in shifts throughout the day, and transformed our ordinary fence into an explosion of color and creativity.

Hearts from Covid Memorial Moved to First Mennonite Church

Our Open Hearts memorial to lives lost to COVID in Champaign County has moved to our neighboring Mennonite Church. A group of volunteers from both congregations met on Friday, April 2 to prayerfully remove the hearts from our lawn and carry them down the street to their new home.
