August Shared Offering

Dear Members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana-Champaign,

Urbana Neighborhood Connections Center “Where our youth will grow, our parents will help, and our community will share” plays a vital role in the lives of more than 60 unique and talented K-12 students in Champaign County, IL in the afterschool program and over 80 during the Summer Enrichment Program.

Each learner receives nutritious meals, help with homework, and opportunities to participate in a wide array of enrichment activities, including cutting-edge digital literacy education programming, as well as exposure to role models from the community. We realize that many of our children come from some of the most underserved neighborhoods in our town and make it our mission to bridge both gaps in academic achievement and social inclusion.

Currently, UNCC serves a population of 98% African American students, with 47% being low income, ranging from grades K-8, in addition to our Summer Youth Employment Program, which provide job training and work experience opportunities for 30 youth across Champaign County. We are committed to serving our youth in a family model, with excellence and attention to our program participants’ unique needs. Our volunteers and staff inspire and prepare children to create lives full of choices. They engage children emotionally, intellectually, and physically, empowering their exploration and creativity.

We are extremely grateful for the monetary donation Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana- Champaign has graciously issued to Urbana Neighborhood Connections Center. Support from generous donors like you helps us continue the work outlined in our founding mission. From the UNCC Family to the UUCUC Family, may you be blessed abundantly for being a blessing to us!

Humbly Submitted,
