- UUCUC’s Immigration Justice Task Force to be Recognized at Immigrant Welcome Awards Ceremony – Updated with Ceremony Link September 1, 2021 - It was announced this week that UUCUC's Immigration Justice Task Force will be recognized with the Community Impact Award at the 8th Annual Immigrant Welcome Awards on September 18th! The time of the event will be from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm, with the location to be determined. We will share information once the location for the event has been finalized.
- Hunger, Poverty and Disasters – It Is Too Much! September 1, 2021 - We will always have hunger, poverty, and disasters in this world. There are times, like right now, when it seems overwhelming! We are exhausted!
- UUCUC Members Support True Climate Bill in Illinois August 25, 2021 - Members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana-Champaign gathered on Sunday, August 22 to urge Senator Scott Bennett to help pass a true climate bill in Illinois. We need him to support a bill that ends our reliance on fossil fuels; provides a just transition to a clean, renewable energy future; and closes the Prairie State coal plant in southwestern Illinois. Prairie State is the largest emitter of carbon pollution in Illinois, and the 7th largest in the country! It's time to do what's right for our planet.
- Rally for Climate and Climate Justice! August 18, 2021 - Here are photos from yesterday's rally to urge Senator Scott Bennett to vote for the Governor's bill that closes the Prairie State coal plant in southwestern Illinois, the 7th largest emitter of carbon pollution in the country. - July 14 – Non-Binary Day July 7, 2021 - Non-binary refers to a person who does not exclusively identify as a man or woman. These folks reject the idea that we only form two categories of gender identity.
- Legacy of the Stonewall Uprising June 22, 2021 - police raid at the Stonewall Inn, in New York City, on June 28, 1969, set off a series of protest demonstrations by the gay community that are called the Stonewall riots or Stonewall uprising. These protests were an important catalyst to the gay liberation movement and the fight for LGBT rights.
