- IJTF Writes Community Sign-On Letter Urging the Biden Administration To Stop Expelling Migrants at the Border April 7, 2021 - Like many at UUCUC, the Immigration Justice Task Force (IJTF) has been watching the challenges at the U.S. / Mexico Border. We know that spring surges like the one currently happening are not new. Last year, the Trump administration used the spring surge and the pandemic as an excuse to apply Title 42, an outdated health code, to effectively close the border.
- IJTF Seeks Donations November 4, 2020 - On Monday, November 16, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, the Immigration Justice Task Force (IJTF) is hosting a virtual meeting to ask for volunteers to help carry out our hospitality / emergency refuge program, approved at this year’s annual meeting. Volunteering is a terrific way to get involved without having to go to meetings!
- IJTF Seeks Member Affirmation for Hospitality Program June 10, 2020 - Last July, the Immigration Task Force of the Social Action Committee (IJTF) agreed to respond to a call by Three Spinners to provide hospitality and emergency refuge for our immigrant friends and neighbors who feel threatened when the U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) is in town.
- Join the Immigration Justice Task Force As We Respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic April 8, 2020 - Food insecurity has skyrocketed among our C-U immigrant community as business closings have resulted in massive job loss. There are thousands of undocumented immigrants in our community that do not qualify for unemployment benefits, and they need our help.
- Immigration Justice Task Force Allocates Funds to CU-FAIR February 19, 2020 - Good news! With funding from Social Action, the Immigration Justice Task Force just allocated $1000 to CU-FAIR, one of our immigration partners. Half will be used for CU-FAIR’s legal defense fund.
- Adolescent In Need of Guardianship November 8, 2019 - The Immigration Justice Task Force has received word of an older English speaking adolescent in need of guardianship.
- UUCUC As A Place Of Hospitality For Immigrants October 10, 2019 - Standing with the UUA’s and other congregations’ beliefs in immigrant justice, in September, our Board of Trustees passed a motion approving a plan for UUCUC to be a place of hospitality for immigrants.
- Love Knows No Borders – Working on Immigration Justice October 2, 2019 - In December 2018, Rev. Florence Caplow joined other UU ministers and seminary students to bear witness to the challenges confronting migrants at the US border with Mexico and to reflect together on how our UU faith calls us to respond.
