From Sandy Hannum
C-U CROP Walk is a community-wide interfaith effort to alleviate hunger and poverty. Our church has been involved in CROP Walk for more than 10 years, and has been one of its most generous supporters.
C-U CROP Walk 2021 will be held on Sunday, October 3. Since we are still dealing with the pandemic, we are planning a hybrid walk this year. On walk day, October 3, participants can choose to attend the gathering at the First Presbyterian Church of Champaign and walk as a group, or watch the message on live-stream and walk in small individual teams. In any case, we expect everyone to mask and social distance.
We will be raising money for hunger and poverty relief, locally and globally, and disaster relief. Of the funds raised, 25% will stay local, and will go to the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, the Eastern Illinois Food Bank, the Sola Gratia Farm, and the Wesley Food Pantry. The other 75% will go to projects in other parts of the world with the greatest needs.
I hope you will join in this effort, as a walker, a supporter, or both. Contact Sandy Hannum for more information – smhannum@gmail.com.
