There will be a free,  Saturday  morning workshop at our church on  March 9  from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.  on legal and policy issues surrounding death, dying, and end-of-life options in Illinois. Two local attorneys with experience in these matters, Keith Emmons and Rebecca Wade, will present vital information and hold a substantial Q and A period. This event is co-hosted by our own Social Action Committee and the Champaign-Urbana Compassion and Choices Action Team. Topics include: Living Wills, the Mental Health Treatment Preference Declaration, POLST Orders (Provider Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment), how to use power-of-attorney for health care, the Illinois Healthcare Surrogate Act, and other aspects of statutory options in Illinois for medical decision-making. No advance registration is needed. This event is open to the public.
