As we contemplate how we will face end-of-life issues for ourselves and our family members, it is important to know how to make ones wishes known, and be sure they are carried out.
How can you make a strong ally of your physician? How can you increase the likelihood that your wishes will be carried out when you are nearing the end of life? Are written documents enough? How can you talk to your family to make sure they will be comfortable supporting your wishes?
Discussing these and other topics are:
Dr. Michael Aref, palliative care physician, Carle
Dr. Claire Barker, geriatrics physician (retired from Carle)
Dr. Joyce Beitel, family practice physician (retired from Carle)
There will be information tables with handouts about end of life issues, Hospice, and physician aid-in-dying legislation proposed for Illinois.
Light refreshments will be served.
