While having a basic understanding trauma it a start – it’s not enough. Becoming trauma informed is the tool that helps communities of faith, organizations, groups, neighborhoods and schools increase their ability to respond to those individuals and communities who have been impacted by trauma and avoid re-traumatizing themselves and others. Trauma informed practices create healthy, compassionate and resilient neighborhoods, schools, groups and communities of faith. At this workshop participants will learn how to be trauma informed in action.
Facilitated by highly skilled trainer Karen Crawford Simms, who has spent her 30 year career helping individuals, organizations, and community groups reach their highest potential through the usage and promotion of strength based, culturally responsive, and evidence & trauma-informed practices.
Offered free of charge to anyone interested, at the Unitarian Church, 309 W Green ST, Urbana, as part of the 2 year initiative on ‘Creating a Culture of Community Engagement’. Contact Jan Kalmar for childcare availability, jankalmarjoy@gmail.com.
