We will be having a Congregational Meeting this Sunday, April 30th, to call Beth Monhollen as our next Settled Minister. If you haven’t yet had a chance to meet Beth, you have a couple more opportunities before the meeting.
- On Saturday, April 29th, there is a Potluck Picnic and Open Forum in the Jean Driscoll Pavillion at Ambucs Park (1200 E. University Ave, Urbana) from noon to 2:00 PM. Remember that the Illinois Marathon is that morning and there may still be road closures (see this map for the race route and the “Beltway” of open roads).
- From 4:30 to 6:00 PM on Saturday you can join Beth at the Rally for Queer & Trans Youth Autonomy at Champaign County Courthouse, 101 E Main St, Urbana, part of U-C Reproductive Justice Week.
On Sunday Beth will deliver her second service, “Don’t Show Up Empty Handed” in the Sanctuary and on the live stream. Once the service ends we will have a short break and then reconvene in a Congregational Meeting starting at 11:45 AM where we will vote to call Beth as our next Settled Minister. There will be a Zoom component of this meeting for those members who cannot physically be at the church, but we hope if you are able you will join us in person to be a part of this important moment. You can learn more about the meeting (including the Zoom link) at uucuc.org/SpecialMeeting.
We are excited to see you on Sunday for the culmination of this long and vital process.
In Loving Service,
