The Settled Search Team has entered the “top secret” part of our process, the part where we review applicants’ materials and interview the ones we think might be a good fit for our congregation. This process will culminate in “neutral pulpit” visits for some candidates, where the Search Team travels to another UU church to experience an entire service led by a prospective minister. Based on those visits and the many hours of conversation we will have, both with the candidates and among ourselves, we will decide on who should be brought forward as our choice in the late spring. That candidate will spend a week among us and then, if the Search Team has chosen well, will be called by a vote of the congregation.
A huge piece of our search criteria has been the results of the survey so many of you (more than 200!) completed during the early fall. We have compiled them into a handy-dandy PDF file, which we are pleased to make available to you by CLICKING HERE! It provides an interesting snapshot of our congregation, both demographically and spiritually. We encourage you to have a look at it and think about what it means for who we are and who we want to become.
Though the Search Team must still exist in its “cone of silence”, please know that the process has been functioning as designed, and we have moved from the arena of limitless unknowns to having specific discussions about specific candidates. There are still many miles to go and no doubt many obstacles to cross, but we have made great progress and hope to continue doing so over these next few months.
