Happy Friday, UUCUC! This week’s column is a grab bag of Search Team miscellany. First, we want to thank the more than 40 people who attended the Beyond Categorical Thinking (BCT) workshop two weeks ago. The discussions we had were thought-provoking and enlightening, and the good attendance speaks well of our congregation and its commitment to casting as broad a net as possible in our search for our next settled minister. With help from our very own Jerry Carden, a certified BCT leader, the Search Team will be presenting a service on the topic on January 22nd. We’ll have more details on that as the date approaches.
The Settled Minister Search Team is now hard at work on our Congregational Record, the “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About UUCUC But Were Afraid to Ask” document (series of documents, actually) that prospective ministers will use to learn about us and what we’re looking for in our next settled minister. We will be turning that in to the UUA this week and awaiting their feedback before it is finalized and released to the candidate pool. A part of the Record will be the results of our Congregational Survey, and once we have completed the submission process we will make those survey results available to everybody.
This is a time of transition for the Search Team: we are moving away from our information gathering phase and moving towards the candidate evaluation phase, with a few weeks in between to recharge our batteries. This next phase is by its very nature quieter, more insular and introspective, so you will be hearing far less from us than you have been so far. Know, though, that we will be working hard on your behalf to find the best candidate for our congregation.
In loving service,
