This November, in Religious Exploration & Engagement, the children’s and middle school groups will explore the theme of change. We can see change all around us in the changing trees and falling leaves as the season begins to change and the temperature drops. Our children and youth will also explore how their emotions and feelings change and how we can stay centered through changes in our lives. For each of us: Change is a constant!
As we all go through periods of change, our emotions can change too. You can try out some “calming techniques” that might help if you are feeling overwhelmed, nervous, or scared:
- Take deep breaths.
- Close your eyes and imagine being at your favorite place.
- Take a walk or do some jumping jacks.
- Play with a fidget toy.
How do you feel now? These techniques may help change how you feel or simply give you a moment to think and rest.
On REE Sundays this month (Nov. 13, 20, 27), children and youth will explore the theme of change through hands-on activities, picture book read-alouds, and conversations. Our REE teachers and facilitators look forward to working with your children and youth as we change from autumn into winter.
