Search Survey Succeeds Spectacularly! Cottage Meetings to Follow!

If you heard a loud cheering sound coming from the vicinity of Green and Birch in Urbana last night, that was your Settled Minister Search Team celebrating YOUR awesomeness as we reached our goal of 200 respondents to the ministerial survey. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us your thoughts and opinions; your enthusiastic response speaks volumes for the level of commitment present in the congregation. The results of the survey will be posted to you and to interested ministers when we complete our “Congregational Packet” for the UUA in mid-November.

Of course the work of learning what we really want from a minister is not yet complete. We will now move into a series of cottage meetings and focus groups throughout the month of October, where we will take what we’ve learned from the surveys and dig more deeply in small group conversations. You will be able to sign up for these meetings both in person (we will have signup sheets after church this month) as well as online (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0A4CA4AB2BA0FD0-cottage). So that you can plan for which one you would like to attend, here are the currently scheduled dates and times and methods of meeting:

  • Tuesday, October 11th, 7:00p at the church
  • Thursday, October 13th, 7:00p on Zoom
  • Saturday, October 15th, 10:00a on Zoom
  • Sunday, October 16th, noon(ish) at the church (right after service)
  • Sunday, October 16th, 3:00p at the home of Anne and Dave Sharpe
  • Tuesday, October 18th, 7:00p at the home of Jody Hanger and Chris Hannauer
  • Wednesday, October 19th, 5:30p on Zoom
  • Saturday, October 22nd, 1:30p at the home of David and Claudia Gross
  • Sunday, October 23rd, noon(ish) at the church (right after service)

Please plan on attending one of the meetings if you can; this will help us fill out the picture that has started with the survey. We will also be conducting focus groups centered on specific aspects of church life in the last week in October. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at search@uucuc.org.
