Gift Policy – We are Listening!

This June, the congregation will be asked to amend the Constitution and Bylaws to change our Gift Policy. Following this vote, the congregation may vote on the distribution of the monies bequeathed by Nan Ehrlich. We are gathering to explain these proposals and listen to your feedback. We will share your feedback with the Board of Trustees. Our in person gathering will be this Sunday, April 10 at Noon in Fellowship Hall and our Zoom gathering will be on Monday, April 18 at 7 PM.

Please RSVP for one of these gatherings or contact Mona Shannon to arrange for a different time.
Background: Prior to receipt of Nan’s bequest, plans were underway to recommend changes in our Constitution and Bylaws to make our gift policy clearer and more flexible, while maintaining our commitment to our highest priority long-term needs. These proposals include the creation of a new Capital Fund to supplement capital campaigns approved by the congregation. The Finance Committee and the Board recommend that the congregation adopt these new policies. If the congregation amends the Constitution and Bylaws, they will then be asked to vote on the distribution of the monies bequeathed by Nan Ehrlich. The Finance Committee and Board are recommending that the monies be distributed per the amended gift policy (Article XV of the Bylaws).  Our current practice is to deposit unrestricted bequests in our General Trust Fund. If the proposed changes are adopted, half of the monies may be distributed to our General Trust Fund and half may be distributed to a new Capital Fund.
