Who says UUs don't know how to have fun? A number of events take place on a regular basis that are just for the fun and fellowship of it. Our Service Auction in April has raised over $20,000 for our budget for the last several years. Coffee houses are held at least twice a year and sometimes in special honor of persons- such as a memorial coffee house in 2014 for Kent Conrad, a much beloved organist/music director who died suddenly way too young. Farewell celebrations and roasts have also been coffee house subjects- such as for previous minister Axel Gehrmann and his family when they moved to Monterey, CA. Most recently a coffee house was held to celebrate the service and retirement of our first interim, Rev. Janet Newman. She was treated to a special rendition of 'Dammit Janet' from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Coffee houses are a time to let our youth gain confidence in their performance skills, and for adults to be just plain silly. Fellowship time after Sunday services will find people playing board games, hanging out at the book exchange table, getting to know visitors or just enjoying a snack prepared by the hospitality team of the month. A monthly UU Happy Hour rotates visits to local pubs and eateries. Young adults go on different activities such as canoeing trips. The Gastro Group meets monthly either in member's homes or a local restaurant and is one of our longest running groups. Photos below highlight a few examples of our fun times together...
